Subsea Pipelines Engineering
Workshop Overview
The course will start with an overview of offshore flowline and pipeline design and installation, including the key considerations, general requirements and terminologies. It will then share the theory and practical implementation of flowlines and pipelines, including design principles, procedures and methods of analysis for flowlines and pipelines; route selection, wall thickness calculations; VIV (Vortex Induced Vibration) and spanning analysis; flow assurance impacts; materials, design for installation; fabrication, installation and inspection methods; connections to subsea structures; flowline/pipeline inspection during operation.
Apart from that, we will cover the detailed analysis and design methods of pipelines that address stress analysis, buckling and collapse of deepwater pipelines. Limit state-based strength design methods will be presented where fracture, fatigue and accumulated plastic strain analysis methods will be integrated into a unified failure risk design methodology. Material selection will follow this presentation in the context of quenched, tempered and accelerated cooled steels. The geotechnical aspects of pipeline design and installation will be covered in detail. Methods of pipeline installations will conclude the course. The participants are expected to gain a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of subsea pipeline engineering that meet best industry practices and codes.
