Workshop Overview
This five-day Certified Cost Professional (CCP) exam preparation course is designed to align with AACE International’s Total Cost Management (TCM) Framework and the core competencies outlined in Recommended Practice 11R-88. After this course, participants are expected to be more ready for the official exam.

Workshop Outline
Benefit of Attending this Workshop
- Understand TCM as a quality management process that integrates all cost engineering practices across the entire life cycle of an asset, program, or project.
- Master the Plan-Do-Check-Assess cycle as the foundation for continuous performance improvement in project control and strategic asset management.
- Distinguish between the five classes of estimates (Class 5 to Class 1) based on the degree of project definition and their associated accuracy ranges.
- Apply both conceptual (stochastic/parametric) and detailed (deterministic) estimating techniques to predict probable project costs.
- Learn techniques for quantity take-off and translating project scope into measurable resource units.
- Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Organizational Breakdown Structures (OBS) to organize work and assign responsibility.
- Master the Critical Path Method (CPM) and Precedence Diagram Method (PDM) to calculate project duration, float (total and free), and identify the longest path
- Understand resource loading, resource leveling, and the effects of constraints on project schedules.
- Calculate and interpret key performance indicators, including CPI and SPI, to assess project status.
- Use EVM data to develop reliable forecasts for Estimate at Completion (EAC) and identify performance trends early.
- Apply Rules of Credit and objective quantitative methods (e.g., units completed, incremental milestones) to measure physical work achieved.
- Learn to identify risk drivers and perform qualitative assessments using probability/impact matrices.
- Understand the basics of Monte Carlo simulations to determine contingency reserves and provide a probabilistic cost distribution.
- Compare different contract types (Lump Sum, Unit Price, Cost-Plus) and understand how they allocate risk between parties.
- Implement formal processes for identifying, assessing, and resolving project changes through a Change Register and Project Variance Notices.
- Review management theories (e.g., McGregor’s Theory X/Y) and the AACE Canons of Ethics to lead multidisciplinary teams effectively.
- Develop the ability to analyze complex, sometimes conflicting, project scenarios and write a professional recommendation memo according to AACE standards.
Who Should Attend to This Workshop
The Certified Cost Professional (CCP) training course is suitable for everyone who is part of any team involved in CAPEX/OPEX projects. The training is aimed at cost controllers, (cost) estimators, project and program managers, project (cost) engineers, project control professionals, contract administrators, members of the purchase department, members of a tendering team, work preparators, project sponsors and all who are involved in technical projects, cost estimation, cost control, and contract review in their organization, as well as those who are associated with project planning and scheduling.
