Flow Assurance Management for Oil and Gas Production
Workshop Overview
This Flow Assurance (FA) training course is aimed at designing and operating subsea oil & gas fields. The operational risks in offshore applications range from reduction in production delivery to shutdown
of facilities, severely impacting the economics of the project. Flow Assurance is a discipline that connects the reservoir with the process topsides, ensuring that the production plan is met by preventing and mitigating the risks even before the system is commissioned.
The participants to this course will receive an introduction to the discipline of Flow Assurance to elevate their capacity to identify flow risks, understand the limitations of state-of-the-art production systems, and acquire knowledge how to prevent the main risks, if possible, or to mitigate the impact of unavoidable risks. All these goals obviously are framed by an adequate balance between system’s Capex (design phase) and Opex (life-cycle operation).
The training course has been extended with additional modules to address new trends impacting the discipline of Flow Assurance, such as carbon capture and sequestration, carbon dioxide or hydrogen pipeline transportation, and onshore Flow Assurance. The course material is illustrated with examples taken from real operations. Carbon dioxide disposal in subsurface wells is also addressed with an example.
At the end of each module the participants will find a set of quizzes that are meant to test the understanding of the subjects addressed in the course. These questions and problems require judgement to support characteristic decision-making situations the Flow Assurance engineer might face.
